Biography:

B.S. Zoology, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL
Ph.D. Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY

As a member of the SPIRE Program, I have the pleasure of combining research and teaching during my postdoctoral fellowship. I am currently teaching in the biology department at North Carolina Central University, but the bulk of my time is spent in the lab. My research focuses on how binge-like consumption alters the neuroimmune system. Conversely, I am elucidating how these neuroadaptions alter behaviors like ethanol consumption using both classical pharmacological techniques and pharmacogenetic approaches (i.e. DREADDs).
